The Hypocrite And Their Religion

Have you ever heard someone ask a question such as.....
Why are Christians such hypocrites?
Why would anyone want to be a Christian?
Why is God such a hypocrite?
How could anyone serve a God like that?

Most Christians are simply absorbed in their personal relationship with Christ, and completely lacking in their ability to share their personal testimony of faith in their outward appearance, and outward deeds, 100% of the time, without creating a one on one with relationship with every person they engage throughout an average day. They can wear a shirt that says “I love Jesus”, and then offend the person next to them by buying a newspaper or business magazine with the wrong headline.

For most Christians the biggest source of hypocrisy is that their faith is grounded in a personal relationship with their creator and savior.

The unsolvable problem with religion is that people expect to be able to explain who God is, and how God works without explaining why God is superior in every way. For some reason people try to put God in a box, and then explain that you have to think outside the box to truly understand who God is, and why he does or does not do certain things.

Take for example the question is God a hypocrite? This is a hard question for most people to overcome, especially since God has given a written account of every time that He has broken His 10 commandments. Most famously the Lord of Hosts has broken the commandments of…

· Do not lie – Sent a lying spirit to the prophets
1 Kings chapter 22) (2 Chronicles chapter 18)

· Do not kill – Lots of scriptures show God is responsible for the death or killing of a specific person or group. Just read your Bible.

· Do not covet – I am a jealous God (Exodus 20:5)

· Do not commit adultery – He basically endorsed adultery by blessing David’s marriage to Bathsheba with the Birth of Solomon

· Do not steal - the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous (Prov 13:22)

The fun answer to the question, “is God a hypocrite?” is that God said he is Holy. He is not subject to the creation, but is the sovereign ruler over it. To which I think most people say, “well yippee for him.”

I think another possible description of the idea that God is Holy is that He does not fit into man's definition of nice, fair, honest, loving, compassionate, or just. His ways are higher than our ways because He is Holy.

God has the ability to communicate to you in the middle of your sin that you will be punished for your sin, there will be consequences, and he is there for you, he is on your side. He is the only one you can count on while you are out doing this wrong thing.

How many people would take someone with them to go rob a bank if that person said, “yes I will go rob a bank with you, but I am going to call the police and let them know our plan, and our timeline. But I will be your most trusted partner during this time. If you go down for this bad thing, I will go down with you.” Only God can occupy two spaces at the same time. He can be the disciplinarian and the administer of grace. He can be both the problem and the solution. The Alpha and the Omega, The first and the last, the beginning and the end. (Revelation 22:13)

Human beings only know what makes sense to us and to the people who are more articulate than we are about spiritual issues. God knows what makes sense in every part of the universe, throughout all creation, and across all time. WITHOUT an eternal perspective, the only conclusion a reasonable person can have is that God is a hypocrite, and any explanation designed to explain otherwise or challenge the accusation will come up short. This is probably why God asks the question…

Nay but, O man, who art thou that repliest against God? Shall the thing formed say to him that formed it, Why hast thou made me thus? ( Romans 9:20 )

Even in the old testament God addressed this issue. Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands? ( Isaiah 45:9 )

In most relationships we have traditional and non-traditional ways of viewing our responsibilities, and the responsibilities of the other person. For example, we all have a friend that we trust to do right by us all the time, and even when that friend fails to do so, we know they are the most loyal person in our life.

We accept their flaws even if the specific flaws that our friend has is for a lot of people a huge deal breaker. Like having a pet rattlesnake. People who own these things as pets know what the limitations are to the relationship, and they are ok with it. They also know that when they forget to follow the guidelines for interacting with that dangerous animal it is going to hurt. No matter how much you talk to, love on and feed a rattlesnake, if you ever think you are going to just open up the lid and pet your snake, you are headed for a world of hurt.

A relationship with God is a relationship with built in limitations. You only know what you know, believe what you believe, and accept the truth as you are willing to accept it. For everything you believe SHOULD NOT be true! Ever! Under any circumstance! Someone else lives their life and thrives within that truth.

God on the other hand created all truth, all perspectives, and all elements of everything. With all the technology human beings have available, mankind has never taken an element that does not exist , and mixed it with another element that has never existed in time, or space and created something out of nothing. How can any person expect to understand life the way God does, when he has done what no human could possibly even imagine doing?

The answer is to have a personal revelation of who God the father is through His son Jesus Christ and walk through your daily existence working out your salvation on a one on one basis. The church and the members of the church can help guide you in certain directions, but that one on one relationship with your Lord and Savior is the only thing that will allow you to be set free from the burden of sin. Thank God he alone is Holy

Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee; for thy judgments are made manifest. ( Revelation 15:4 )

Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created. ( Revelation 4:11)
